Quantum Delta NL (QDNL) opened the first House of Quantum, in Delft this week. This building is more than a co-working space for start-ups and enterprises and will include high-end labs among other advantages and will be uniquely, focused on quantum computing industry.
Launching members of this House of Quantum are: Orange QS, Qblox, Qphox, Quantware, Delft Circuits, Single Quantum, Q*Bird, Bluefors, Microsoft, Quantum Delft and Quantum Delta NL.
Public – Industry Partnership
Public-Industry partnerships have been a key driving force in quantum industry development. Quantum Delta NL attracted a €615 million euros investment for the further development of Quantum Technology from the Dutch government in 2021. The House of Quantum is one of several programs from QDNL to foster the ecosystem for quantum technologies.
Commenting at the inauguration of the House of Quantum, Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, Micky Adriaansens: “Quantum technology is a promising field of technology and the Netherlands has world-leading research facilities. Now is the time to convert our academic lead into economic activity. Fruitful public-private cooperation like The House of Quantum plays a central role in this process.”
Future Plans and Roll Out
The House of Quantum in Delft is the first in a series of locations. Other locations will include Eindhoven, Amsterdam and Twente and also additional buildings in Delft as well – to be opened between 2023 and 2026. The main building in Delft will be a landmark location and is scheduled to open in 2025. This main building will be known as Europe’s smartest 12.000 square “quantum meters” and will have workspaces and will be home to high-end labs and testbeds for quantum computing, quantum networks and quantum sensing.
As we consider the brand possibilities behind House of Quantum, one might say – from Cube House to Qubit House, the creative people of Netherlands have once again unleashed something interesting.
