At the IBM Quantum Summit 2022, Vodafone and IBM announced two initiatives –
- Vodafone will join IBM Quantum Network and explore quantum use-cases in the telecommunication space. This initiative will also help Vodaphone’s employee upskill and learn quantum technology through iterative prototyping led by IBM. In addition, Vodaphone plans to build competency by actively recruiting quantum computing talent.
- Vodaphone is also partnering with IBM Quantum Safe cryptography and plans to deploy this technology across its entire and diverse network infrastructure and systems. “Investing in quantum-safe cryptography, now, also gives us the peace of mind that our infrastructure and customer data will also always be secure as we explore the benefits of quantum computing,” said Luke Ibbetson, head of group R&D at Vodafone Group.
